Notability – Note Taking App Reviews

Better and better. Excellent with Apple Pencil. Penultimate, Noteshelf, and Note Taker HD each have strengths, but Notability wins big in my opinion because of its speed, ease-of-use, and ability. The user interface is superior. Drawing perfectly straight lines is a very handy edition. iCloud integration and a slew of features makes this app an essential app for pro users, students, and casual use.

Great in terms of UI, but lacking in two ways: 1. Still cant open multiple notes at the same time. How can I reference one note while working in another note? 2. You cant make your own colors. You cant choose your own line width. Sure there are options, but why not let users make their own?

The most beneficial feature I envision for this app is a split-view multi-window option. As a college student who is trying to use this app as my primary way to take notes, I could see how it would be useful to have multiple windows open. eally like this app, but there are some features that could definitely improve it. For example, it would be great to be able to crop figures in the shapes other than squares. Ive only recently acquired this app and so far I love it, but the lack of features such is holding back this app from being among the best in the App Store for me. Ill add more feedback as it comes to me. Edit: Another feature that could be useful would be the ability to alter the playback speed of recordings to a greater extent. Some times 1.0 is too slow and 1.5 playback speed is too fast. Having a range in between would be nice.

Great app when it doesnt crash. Latest update crashes ever 15 min. VERY FRUSTRATED at the amount of times the app crashes. Makes studying and taking notes miserable because every time it crashes you have to redo everything that didnt save!! Fix this SH**!!!

This has by far been my go-to app for college lecture notes. However, I have recently encountered an issue with erasing while audio recording. If fixed, definitely a 5-star app!

Great app and great customer support! The updates keep coming and this app just keeps getting better. This is the best app I found for writing on the iPad Pro with the pencil, and the subtle addition of the straight line tool has been extremely useful. I use this in grad school for everything, and I couldnt be happier. One user made a suggestion of a possible tab system, or a way to have more than one note open at once, and Id like to second that as a pipe dream request. If it were possible to have two separate notes open, it would make the school workflow even better as note consolidation would be so easy! I still maintain my ever-recurring feature request: I would love to see some sub-folder options in the future. I have so many notes and I have had to develop my own file naming system to keep them organized. A simple folder within a folder system would work wonders for full-time users. Also, Ive see it in a few other apps, but some gesture for undo using the Pencil would be a nice touch especially since on the Pro the undo button is dreadfully far away at times. All in all, very well done and getting better every day. Couldnt survive grad school without this app! Thanks Notability!

I love this app but I wish that there was the option to have custom colors.

For some unknown reason, I cant get the latest update and, now, I cant use the app. I really like this app but am frustrated that I can no longer use it. I have a number of valuable notes there that I cant access. Please, I need this fixed.

The only reason I dont use this on my phone is that it does not support searching a single PDF document. You can only search your entire library. I have been using this for medical school for the past 2 years. I have 50+textbooks, power points, notes, etc. If I want to search for a term, I need to be able to select a single book or PowerPoint, then search that document. Aside from this, the program is great. Sync feature works well thru iCloud. Apple Pencil support is great. PLEASE ADD THE SEARCH BAR FOR PDFS!

App no longer imports files from Dropbox Edit: Says "Couldnt import file name because Notability failed to unpack file". This occurs on ALL formats (i.e. PowerPoint, Word documents, etc.).

This is a solid platform both on iPhone and iPad. I would like to be able to backup my notes to OneDrive. Most schools provide Office 365 subscriptions and it would be nice if I didnt have to pay for extra storage by using Google Drive.

Ive always been looking for that app that you can take a PDF onto and then scribble all over it. This is the one! Only reason I gave 4 stars is they need a way slicker logo, something more fitting for the iOS 10 look and feel.

Great app, includes a lot of great functionalities. Need to have better cloud integration with one drive sugarsync and other services.

Great app, works great. The only issue I have is that the notes dont sync with other devices. This is my favorite way to keep knitting patterns, but occasionally o have only my iPad or my phone, and the patterns arent synced. It would be nice to have that option.

Love this app, please add a clock at the top of the app window to monitor how much time a document has been looked over. Really need help with time management and that would make this app perfect for students.

I really want to be able to draw perfect circles but except for that its easy to use and useful in school.

Its a great app. It lack a few though. OCR to convert handwritten notes to text so that you can export to word or pdf and support search ability within notes. In addition to, scratch to erase where I scratch over a word/character/or anything to erase.

It could use a lot of improvement. I had written things down but failed nickname save deleted everything. To simplify: ability to draw more shapes (I.e. Circle), highlight under text, recognize all written text and not skip over letters, include scroll bars with the palm rejection ability, and more...

I bought this app back in college to take notes on. Now that Im a teacher I still use it for everything!! Slowly getting my whole staff to use it. If only there were a way to get commission
